How to get a Real Estate Licence

In order to sell real estate in Alberta you must obtain a licence and be employed by a brokerage.

Briefly, the process is as follows:

• Complete the required courses
• Pass the examinations
• Register with a brokerage

For an associate’s (agent) licence the courses are:

• Phase I
• Phase II (difficult exam)
• Phase III

o Residential Section (exam)
o Commercial Section (exam)
o Rural Section (exam)

We strongly recommend you take the course in class as you will learn a lot more and have a much better chance of passing your exam.
